Leaders History
After serving an apprenticeship with a Ford main dealer, Leaders Engineering founder Ray Morgan went on to work for several other main dealers including BMW, Alfa Romeo, Lotus and Citroen.
Leaders Engineering was founded in 1981 by Ray and his wife Heather. Ray ran the mechanics side of the business while Heather was book-keeper while at the same time bringing up two children. Their son Gavin served his apprenticeship with Ray at the garage and went on to fulfill his ambition of becoming a Formula 1 mechanic (as seen in the photo above with Brazilian F1 driver Bruno Senna).
After expanding the business and out-growing the workshop, the Corbeau Seats factory a few doors down became available so Leaders took it over in 1998. They turned the area into a large workshop with extra bays and an MOT test centre.
In 2011, Ray's number one mechanic Mick, who had been working for Leaders for 15 years became a partner in the company to insure the continuity of the business. This has had the added benefit of allowing Ray and Heather a little more time to themselves.
Over the years, Leaders have trained many apprentices and taken on several work experience staff. This has given a lot of young people a skill that will benefit them for the rest of their lives.
